Sharadindu did not want to continue the Byomkesh stories, which is why he stopped writing Byomkesh stories from to Shailrahasya and Ln are the best from the lot. And thank god for that. I had bought this book to relive those moments I had spent glued to Doordarshan byommkesh watching Rajit Kapoor enacting the role of Byomkesh Bakshi.
When I saw that it was based on a book I decided to check it out. West Bengal football team. Nowhere did the translation feel odd but instead merged beautifully to bring out dialogues just like they would have been woven in the Bengali original. While I think Monimala Dhar, the translator, seems to have done a decent job, there could have been more tight editing of her English. The cases are intelligent, brain exercising and still as shocking in their solution even after decades and btomkesh leaps in scientific development!
