Rivet tool bolt cutter

How do you make the mushroom shape in the bucking plate? You will find alot of assembly information as well plans for making rivet jigs on the web Thanks btrapr1! How much metal do you take off of the bolt cutters? What size bolt cutters did you start with, and what did you use to remove the metal from the bolt cutters with? BTW, here's a picture of my 24" HF bolt cutter setup. The arrow shows where to remove some extra metal so that the jaws can reach the lower rear rivets on an underfolder.

You will not be disappointed with Pat's design or his product. Save yourself a lot of time and contact him. Quoted: silentweapon, did you get the PM I sent you? How did you get the nipple on the cutters in the pic you just posted with this response?

Quoted: I got it thanks for the info! Is this the nipple that you're talking about? I did it by using the angle grinder on the jaw. Yes that is it! It had the illusion of having a nipple on it!

I see it now, thanks! Has anyone ever used Metal Crimpers instead of the bolt cutters for this tool? Quoted: Has anyone ever used Metal Crimpers instead of the bolt cutters for this tool? I'm sure they could be modified to work as well.

I paid 20 bucks for them at HD, they wanted 45 for the bolt cutters. I'm going to modify them, if they seem like they'll work. Less grinding since a lot of the metal is already cut out for the crimping holes, I just didn't know if they'd hold up. I'm sure they will work fine. They really look like the same design as the boltcutters. You may be on to something there, especially if the steel is a better grade than the typical chinese ones.

Those I believe are made from ground up rusty Toyotas. Has anyone tried an 18" bolt cutter? Thanks, Rich. Yes, 18" bolt cutter will work. I don't think you can make them work for the lower rivets on an underfolder rear trunnion though. I'm guessing you don't have a Harbor Freight near you. Do you have a Home Depot nearby?
