How to get smoke smell out of games

However, the discs themselves and the manuals still reek despite not being too yellowed. Re: how to remove cigarette smell from ps1 games? The baking soda should suck up most of the smell. I did this with my car owners manual and it worked perfect. As for the discs, I have no idea, the baking soda shouldn't hurt it. While doing this, remember to keep the bag sealed for days. It takes a bit. As for the discs, a simple cleaning of plastic polish will be beneficial for a shine as well.

Go easy on the label side though, maybe lightly with rubbing alcohol. Sign up for free! Topic Archived Page 1 of 2 Last. I got some used consoles and they reek of smoke. Looks like they aren't too caked yet so thinking they will get better in time.

I was thinking of tieing them in a plastic bag with some moth balls. Think that might help? SS4kronos33 8 years ago 2. You know P Stan the man Lee SS4kronos33 8 years ago 3. Wrap frabic softner around it for a couple days.

Wipe them down with a rag or paper towel with some rubbing alcohol and salt. JoveHack 8 years ago 6. You've got to get as much of the actual deposited material off as you can before attempting to neutralize the remainder. Anything strong enough to neutralize the remaining contaminants inside the consoles might be able to damage electronic circuitry as well.

You've got the option of opening up the cases and doing some manual cleaning with rubbing alcohol and paper towels. I've started recommending using microfiber cloths, but they won't be able to handle something like this. For that matter, rubbing alcohol might not be strong enough, but I'm not sure you want to use something like bleach. That's pretty serious. I don't recommend opening up the case on a working console. I did that once to clean some dust out, and it never worked again.

That's a shame, because I'll bet cleaning the cooling fan blades would make a big difference. If you're having trouble cleaning the exterior, you might try Windex or the like. Ammonia will probably do the trick. Using mothballs in a plastic sack is a good idea. That's basically ammonia, which I've used for similar smells. I had the same issue, and had some success getting it out.
